Environmental Sustainability

Glaciers like the Margarie Glacier, pictured above, are receding and the climate is changing. Here at Soundmask we have decided to make a real commitment to conduct our business in an environmentally sustainable way.

Environmental Sustainability Policy

Product Development

Through the product development process, staff are expected to first consider the most environmentally sustainable production method and materials. Unless the costs of the most environmentally sustainable materials or methods are prohibitive, this option will be chosen.

Manufacturing

By the end of 2009 all products will be manufactured without lead or halogen wiring. Wherever possible, Soundmask will work to eliminate the use of environmentally unsustainable materials in production.

Energy

Soundmask will roll over all existing utilities accounts to “green energy” by 2010. By 2012, all servers will be rolled over to "green servers". Staff are expected to switch off their own lights, computers and electronic equipment when not in use.

Printing

Recycled paper and vegetable based inks is to be used in all printing and brochures, where possible, with a view to the exclusive use of recycled paper and vegetable based inks by 2012.

Cleaning

Existing cleaning products, including air fresheners and staff amenities, will be replaced with environmentally sustainable products as they run out.

Recycling

Wherever possible, materials will be reused or recycled. Staff are expected to recycle office waste (glass, paper & plastic) in the designated recycling bins.

Membership

Soundmask is a proud member of the Green Building Council of Australia, a national, not-for-profit organisation that is committed to developing a sustainable property industry for Australia by encouraging the adoption of green building practices.
